America Starts Here!
Project 2
Again we will split up our study of the American Revolution so that you can each become an expert in several events or people. You will once again present your findings to your classmates. Remember: you are trying to make the subject clear to them so that everyone can write brief summaries of the event. Include the Who, What, When, Where, and Why of the event. Make sure you answer the question, "What/Who was ______________?"
When your summaries are complete, we will choose the best to put on our bulletin board about the American Revolution. You again will be graded on the outcomes BE PRECISE, COMMUNICATE, and DISCERN. You will receive the rubric for this project on Monday, March 16, 2015.
The events and people you will study are:
The British surrender at Saratoga
The Treaty of Alliance between the French and the colonists
Baron von Steuben and Valley Forge
Mary (Molly) Hays
Battle at Fort Vincennes
The Surrender of Charleston, South Carolina
Benedict Arnold
Victories at King's Mountain and Cowpens
The Articles of the Confederation
The Treaty of Paris

Project 1
Let's divide and conquer in our study of the American Revolution! You will each study one aspect of the American Revolution and report back to your classmates. You will use a variety of resources to answer your key question. In the end you will write a brief report for your classmates describing your event.
KEY QUESTIONS
1. What was the First Continental Congress? (student: ___________________)
2. What was the Midnight Ride? (student: _____________________)
3. What happened at the Battles of Lexington and Concord? (student: ___________________)
4. What was the Second Continental Congress? (student: _________________)
5. What happened at the Battle of Bunker Hill? (student: _________________)
You will need to conduct research using a variety of sources so that you truly understand your question’s answer. You will read and view sources, taking notes and deciding which information your classmates need to know.
When you finish your research, you will write a short report (1-2 paragraphs) to answer your key question. You will then present your report to your classmates.
Your work will be graded on the outcomes DISCERN, COMMUNICATE, and BE PRECISE. You will receive the rubric for this project on Monday, March 2, 2015.
